The story of the Adivasi in eastern India is just like the movie Avatar, but for real.
The EU Referendum blog has this brief and curious article. It has a link to a PDF article about how the Adivasi have fought and are winning against the evil mining company there which is worth reading.
A greedy mining company, Tata, stole the lands from the Adivasi, the local people, with the consent of India’s socialist government, and ruined what was left of their environment. Tata took the Adivasi’s lands to provide iron, coal and other minerals to the Chinese communists. In some cases, the Adivasi people were effectively slaves of the mining companies. The Adivasi got fed up with the abuses of the companies, fought back, and won against Tata.
The Adivasi are forest people. They live close to nature and read the signs in the forest. Some follow an animistic faith. Many convert to Christianity, and the Christian church is quite popular among the Adivasi.
The area where the Adivasi live is rich with minerals. As I’ve mentioned periodically in the Hellcat Republican blog the Chinese want to control this area so they can own all of the rare earths available on the planet. The rare earths are essential for high tech applications such as military equipment and “green” technology. If the Chinese assume complete control over all the rare earths, they will all but control the planet and we might as well rename the Earth “Arrakis” after the spice planet that ruled the universe in the Dune series.
The Chinese are pressing for control of the mining in these mineral rich areas. The Maoists have moved into these areas trying to take control by force if necessary. The only real difference between the Adivasi story and the Avatar story is the presence of Communists in eastern India. There were no Communists in Avatar trying to use the conflict between the blue skinned Na’vi people and the human socialist miners to convert the Na’vi into a Communist society.
The Maoists in China are trying to take control of the region, and they are having limited success. The locals vote them down in elections. The Adivasi not only fought and beat the mining companies, but they also fought and beat the Maoists.
Even though I know very little about the Adivasi, I have to admire them for standing up to the extremes of the socialist backed companies, the Maoist terrorists, and ultimately, the Chinese Communists.
Stumble it!
