Like most conservatives, I’m pretty disgusted with the liberals in Congress.  Other conservatives are disgusted with the fact that Congress is forcing a monster of a bill onto the public, and more disgusted with liberals for effectively bribing fellow liberals to get their votes.  I’m more disgusted with them than that.

If the fight were over ideals, I would just be aggravated and alarmed.  But that isn’t what I see happening.  I see something more.

The holdout liberals who are getting those bribes are gaming the system.  They held out their votes until the end as a means to receive those bribes.  They aren’t even ideologues.  They are thieves.  Let’s go back in time to the ratification of the Constitution to see why.

When the Constitution was put up for ratification, the Founders only required 9 states’ support for ratification.  Why not unanimous support?  The Founders understood politics.  They knew that if all 13 states were required, after 11 or 12 states voted for ratification, the last one or two states would hold out for concessions.  So, to get around this kind of gaming the Founders wisely required only 9 states for ratification.  Fast forward to today.

The liberals want to get the socialized health care bill passed, and they need 60 votes to get it.  So what’s happening?  After they got close to 60 yeah votes, the holdouts gamed the system for concessions.  Billions of dollars in concessions.

Do the liberals in Congress really support socialization of health care that strongly?  I’m guessing that a closer look at the bill will show mega-tons of pork in it.  We already know that in the long run socialized medicine will fly when pigs do.  The bill has a 4 year delay in it.  In 2012 conservatives will have control over Congress.  The President will probably be Sarah Palin, another conservative.  They will kill socialized medicine before it sends us headlong over a cliff.  Socialized medicine isn’t going to happen in the US and the liberals know it. The bill is about the pork, not the socialization of health care.

In the fight against socialized medicine, it is important to keep in mind that the public needs to be frequently reminded that socialized medicine won’t happen.  The 2012 election will be about killing the monstrous socialized medicine Debt Star before it goes fully online in 2013 or 2014.
