Have you ever read or listened to a debate about AGW (human-caused global warming)?  Almost always the AGW advocate turns to character aspersions,  and personal attacks to try to win the argument.  That shows that they really don’t understand Democracy.  

The AGW advocates want to pass a bunch a laws to reduce “greenhouse” gas emissions.  Those laws will severely change our society.  They will impose more limits on our freedoms.  

For us to give up those freedoms, the AGW advocates need our consent.  They need our votes at the polls.  

How do they go about trying to get those votes?  By being reasonable and respectful and showing sufficient cause for new laws?  

No.  They try to gain our support by being irrational, unreasonable, disrespectful, and presenting little or no substantive arguments to make their case.  They don’t mind pissing people off.  All to gain more votes. 

I don’t get these guys.  Seriously.  They don’t seem to understand that they need our votes.  Since they are asking us to give up some of our freedoms, it is up to them to make their case for AGW.  It is not up to us to make the case that there is no AGW. 

So why the irrational argumentation?  Why does Al Gore have to resort to religious “programming” techniques to try to get people to believe in AGW?  

Their response to our questions about climate change lead them to refer to large quantities of data and they defer to the IPCC.  They say that the science is settled simply because they say it is.  A closer look at the research shows that the sciences isn’t settled, there are still disagreements, concerns and questions.  And there are problems with the data.  They ask us to give up our freedoms by bowing down to the imagined authority of the IPCC and the UN without questioning.  

They just don’t get Democracy.  That is why the AGW political movement will eventually fail.
