When Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 I knew it was all over.  The committee had lost its collective mind.  The award to Obama proves to the whole world that the committee is void of credibility.  

The common claim is that the committee awarded the peace prize to Obama as a political ploy.  There were many people in the world, Mother Teresa and Dali Lama types, who are plainly more deserving of the peace prize.   Even Bono has better peace street cred than Obama.  Why did the committee give the prize to Obama? 

Politics. 

Many people are claiming now that the committee gave it to him to “sell him up.”   They want to manipulate Obama and the world.  They are using the prize to push a political agenda. 

Or perhaps the prize was bought and paid for.  It happens regularly with certain Hollywood type awards.  So why not the Nobel Peace Prize?  What would it cost to buy off committee members?  What would their price be?  Would it be a lot of money compared to the money of Obama supporters?  What would happen if George Soros decided that Obama should have the award?  Does he have enough money to make it happen? 

The Nobel Peace Prize lost its meaning in 2002 for me.  The 2009 award has destroyed the award’s noble meaning in the eyes of the rest of the world. 

A good bet is that there is a scandal in this story.
