I read some of your site. Honestly, I don't see how signing a statement will create the kind of change that is needed.

The polls are where change will happen, so I put my efforts into that.

In the meanwhile I'm interested in clarifying the deistic philosophy behind the Declaration of Independence as a religious ideal. As that becomes more clear I can state that ideal as my ideal. According to those religious beliefs I cannot accommodate certain actions of the current government because of my faith.

My equivalent to salvation is my independence.

Your signature document is weak compared to that. If you would like, you can consider yourself a member of my faith and then your beliefs will have the strength of law behind them because in the US, for now at least, the government respects the faith of individuals. Something to think about...

At this moment I'm considering whether I want to work with the American Unitarians to start a branch that focuses on American Deism.

Scott:

You are correct that this is a very big deal. In many ways, the idea of mandatory national service is more important than any of the other policies of the Obama administration, because if they are successful in establishing this, then they will have achieved ownership over the lives of every American citizen. I have been opposing this a vigorously as I can, and you might be interested in taking a look at my website which goes into great detail regarding this issue, and is recruiting people to sign a "Personal Declaration of Independence" demanding the government honor our autonomy and restore our lost constitutional rights. Check it out and let me know what you think.
