Even the title of the bill is a lie.   A socialized medicine bill will in no way make America healthier.

I did a quick scan of the replacement for HR 3200, and its the same wolf, different sheep’s clothing. The newly clothed wolf is just as much about statism as HR 3200.

The new bill is loaded with language such as

States would be required to apply the new Federal rating rules to two distinct markets (1) the individual market and (2) the small group market, defined as groups of 1-50 or up to 100 at state option.”

“National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) would be directed to develop a model for states to adopt. If the NAIC does not act or a state does not adopt the new requirements, new Federal regulations would preempt state laws that conflict with the new reinsurance requirements.”

“State insurance commissioners would be able to review the actuarial soundness of the risk spreading activities conducted by and the contributions made by the Non Profit.”

Etc., etc., etc.

Right down the line the proposed bill has the federal government dictating what the states can and cannot do.  If I dig deeper I know I’ll find numerous provisions where the feds dictate to the people themselves what they can and cannot do.

The whole idea underlying the bill is to usurp the Constitution and give powers to federal government that are illegal for the federal government to have according to the Tenth Amendment.

The bill is attempting to subvert the core principles that the US government was founded on.  The Founders wanted a small decentralized federal government.  The entire war for independence was fought to remove statists from control of society.

Today’s statists are at it again, trying to usurp control.  Trying to subvert the Constitution.  And every inch lost to these guys is an inch that might never be taken back.

I was reading some stuff from Obama’s new Regulatory Czar, Cass Sunstein.  He has a theory about something he calls “the Constitution in Exile.”

The Constitution in Exile means that in the last hundred and fifty years or so statism has crept into the federal government.  A lot of this took place under Franklin Roosevelt.  The socialism introduced into government has usurped parts of the Constitution.  Those parts of the Constitution that are being ignored by the federal government are called the Constitution in Exile.

In the theory of the Constitution in Exile certain people want the Constitution restored or properly amended.  That would include conservatives such as me, and perhaps Sarah Palin.

According to the Czar Sunstein the constitutionalists are in the wrong.  More power should be given to the federal government at the expense of the states and the individual citizens.

What the statists are doing with the socialized medicine bills is testing us.  They want to find out if we will stand up to them.  If we can’t won’t, they will take over.

The socialized medicine bills are not about health and compassion.  There is no reason we can not improved the best health care system in the world without socializing it.  The bills are about power and control, which requires subverting the Constitution further than it has been already, exiling more of the legal foundation of our freedom further into the oppressive world of statism.

It was said around the time of America’s Founding that eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.  That was not said about foreign powers, but about our own complacence in addressing statists.

Stumble it!
