A group of angry citizens blocked the entrance to the Education Deptartment in Washington DC to protest the ending of the five-year-old voucher program for disadvantaged students. Mayor Marion Barry joined the protestors.
I honestly don’t understand why liberals are against school vouchers. They want equality in health care. Why not education? Why are they only happy when things are socialized and controlled by the government?
Conservatives want school vouchers because vouchers would open the doors wider to competion, which would make for better and less expensive schools. I would like to send my son to a private school, one of my own choice, but I don’t think I can afford it.
Perhaps one of the more conservative states will throw off the yoke of federally controlled education, institute a voucher program, and show how effective vouchers can be. My own state, Oregon, would probably be the last state in the union to do something like that. Oregon loves regulation.
Stumble it!
